I am starting a new initiative to dedicate more of my life to the most important goal I can think of - sharing the good news of Yeshua with my Israeli brothers and sisters and making disciples. Read on if you want to find out more…

First, some background

I had been dissatisfied in my work as a software developer for a long time. Although the money was good, the work felt empty and hollow. I began to sense God had something more meaningful for me to do. When I prayed, the following sentence began to crystalise in me, expressing the direction I wanted to take:

I want my life to be dedicated to introducing people to Yeshua; helping them consider him, learn from him and go deeper in relationship with him.

To gain more clarity, I spent a couple of days in an ancient monastery outside of Jerusalem, praying and fasting to ask God for direction. I was surprised when I kept hearing the word “outr” come up.

Sharing my faith isn’t something that comes naturally to me - in fact I usually shy away from it. I have always found the idea of having spiritual conversations with strangers scary and daunting. Yet I couldn’t deny how I was feeling; I was intrigued to explore what God had in store for me.

First steps

The same night I came back from the prayer retreat my wife and I attended a course on “relationship evangelism”, taught by Stuart Winograd. His friendship first, genuine approach struck a deep chord with me. One thing I came away with especially was this quote:

People are not a target of your evangelism; they are a target to receive the love of God through you.

This idea began to set me free from my fears of talking to people about Yeshua.

Preaching in the protest!

On the second night of the course, there was a huge anti-government protest in Jerusalem that shut roads and stopped me attending. I was gutted at first. Then I sensed an opportunity from God to go out and put some of Stuart’s principles into practice! I was afraid but my wife encouraged me to go for it.

I had an amazing gospel conversation and prayed with a protestor who I only met because I told him off for urinating up against the side of my building!

Over the next few days, I had several more fascinating and powerful conversations and prayers with soldiers, protestors and policemen as the protests raged.

Following these experiences, I got the idea to devote more time to sharing Yeshua with people, and to start a blog to document the process. This will be a journey of faith, and I don’t have much of a clue of where to start - but I do feel God in it! The plan will likely evolve and change as time goes on, here is what I have so far!

Initial Plan

  1. Go out into the streets of Jerusalem regularly and actively seek to have gospel centred conversations with all kinds of Israelis - religious, secular, soldiers and more.

  2. Develop relationships with those who show interest, with the view to seeing them come to faith and be discipled into the local Messianic community.

  3. Start a process of deeper reading, study, prayer, and practice with a view to becoming more effective and skilled at sharing my faith.

  4. Release a newsletter once per week summarising my progress, struggles and successes.

Four Goals of the Newsletter

  1. I want this blog to document my journey of growing in my faith and ability to effectively share Yeshua.

  2. I want to share the ups and the downs of the process, to provide a raw and real account of the conversations I have and what I learn along the way.

  3. I want to inspire others that if I can do it, they can too! I am the furthest thing from an expert, and by documenting my fears, failures and challenges as well as the successes, I want to help destroy the myth that sharing Yeshua is only for the naturally gifted. I pray this blog provides tools and encouragement for many others to realise they can step out in faith and share the love of Yeshua effectively, naturally and powerfully.

  4. God will bring the fruit, and I can’t do anything in my own strength. But I am believing for him to work powerfully in people’s hearts and minds. Eventually I would love to see a new believers’ home group form from people who I meet and share with.

Join me on the journey!

Firstly, and above all please pray for me! Please pray for boldness, opportunities, wisdom, humility and the power of God to flow in my conversations and relationships.

Secondly - I would love to hear your ideas and encouragements and get a conversation and community going in the comments section and learn from one another.

Thirdly - please share with others who you know would be interested to hear more and support the vision of reaching Israelis with the good news.

Finally, I am planning to significantly reduce my hours spent in paid work so I can devote meaningful time to the process. If you’re interested to financially support my family and I in this endeavour, please reach out to me by email at [email protected].

Yours, Adam
